Services available for registered portal users

The Open Government Data Platform India - data.gov.in – provides following additional features to the registered portal users:

To post blogs
To contribute community apps
To create forum topic
To submit request for API
Suggest/Endorse Datasets
Comment on Blogs and Forum
Visitors Dashboard - To see their Suggested datasets, Blog, Forum topic, Community Application on their respective dashboards
API Key generation and access of API URLs using API Key

To avail the facilities, first click the Login button on the top right corner of the page. Enter the username/email and password. Click on login button to login into the portal.

Click on the Create Content tab at the top right corner of the page and select the activity i.e. Blog, Community Application, Contact Data Manager, Forum Topic, you want to do.

1. Create Blog

You can post blogs in the communities available on the Open Government Data Platform India.

Update the appropriate information in each field to post your blog. The following table lists each field with description.

Field	Description
Title	Give Title of your blog
Body (Edit Summary)	Give the full text here. Click on Edit Summary to give gist of your blog. You can leave it blank to use trimmed value of full text as the summary.
Tag	Give keywords relevant to your blog
Community	Select the relevant community, where you want to post your blog
Blog Image	Upload an image related to your blog. The image must be less than 10 MB
Save (Button)	Save your blog
Preview (Button)	You can see the preview.

2. Create Community Application

Open Government Data Platform India showcases the community apps. You can submit community application developed by you or your team.

Update the appropriate information in each field to post your application on the portal. The following table lists each field with description.

Field	Description
Application Name	Give title of your application.
Description	Give description to communicate the functions of your application. Click on Edit Summary to give gist of your application. You can leave it blank to use trimmed value of full text as the summary.
Sector	Select relevant sector. To add multiple sectors, click on Add Another Item.
App Link	Give link of your hosted app.
Reference URL	Give URL of the resources/data used for your app. To add multiple URLs, click on Add Another Item.
Language	Select Language.
Platform	Select the Platform on which your application is available.
Save	Save your entry.

3. Create Forum Topics:

You can start discussions in Communities available on the Open Government Data Platform India - data.gov.in.

Update the appropriate information in each field to create forum on the portal. The following table lists each field with description.

Field	Description
Subject	Give topic the subject on which you want to create forum.
Forums	Select the relevant Community.
Body	Give the full text here. Click on Edit Summary to give gist of your forum. You can leave it blank to use trimmed value of full text as the summary.
What code is in the image?	Enter the characters shown in the image.
Save	Save your forum topic.
Preview	You can see the preview.

4. Submit Request for API:

If you need API for some resource (Dataset), you can submit a request for API. Click on Request API option available on resource description page.

5. Suggest or Endorse Datasets

Suggest Dataset

This feature allows registered users to suggest datasets. Click on the Suggest Dataset button (available with every page) and fill the following details:

Your Name
Your E-mail Address*
Suggest the Dataset or App*
What do you want to do with data?
Source of Data

Note: * Fields are mandatory

Endorse Datasets

Click on Suggest or Endorse Datasets option availableon the homepage footer or more button of Recent Suggestions tab toendorse the datasets already suggested by others.

You can select the suggestions sector-wise. To endorse the suggestion, click on the Thumbs Up icon.

6. Comment on Blog and Forum

Blog:

This feature allows LogIn users to comment on the blogs published under communities. Fill the following fields:

Subject
Comment*

Note: * Field is mandatory

Forum:

This feature allows LogIn users to comment on the forums published under communities. Fill the following fields:

Subject
Comment*

Note: * Field is mandatory

7. Visitors Dashboard - To see their Suggested datasets, Blog, Forum topic, Community Application on their respective dashboards

Click on the My Dashboard tab at the top right corner of the homepage for an overview of all your activities.

Select Content Type i.e. Blog, Community Application, Forum Topic, Suggest Dataset for the overview. Click on edit to make changes in your submissions. Delete option is also available.

8. API Key generation and access of API URLs using API Key

To generate your API Click, click on the My Account Icon available on the top right corner of the portal.
